Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress promotes the presence of women in the technological field

With the aim of providing visibility and promoting the presence of women in the fields of science and technology, the upcoming edition of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress will host the STEM Women Congress to promote innovation and female talent in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

STEM Women Congress, organized by the Global STEM Women platform, will take place on May 14 and will address cybersecurity applied to key sectors of the economy such as critical infrastructures, health care or the financial system from a gender perspective, highlighting the role of women.

Among the confirmed speakers are Marta Pascual, CEO of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, a quantum computing deep-tech startup; Maria Viadé, director of information security and data protection officer of Volkswagen Group Spain; Nadiya Shaik, cybersecurity specialist at Nestlé; and Elena Medina, Sanofi Iberia’s digital leader.

Cybersecurity and disruptive technology
This way, the STEM Women Congress adds to the offer of the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress (BCC) and the IOT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), events organized by Fira de Barcelona that, from May 13 to 15, will bring together more than 350 exhibitors from all over the world and will have the participation of more than 100 speakers.

Thus, BCC, co-organised by the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya (ACC), will feature an exhibition area with companies such as Threatlocker, Crowdstrike, EY, Fortinet, FTI, ManageEngine, SentinelOne, Sosafe and Tenacy. In addition, its conference program will address topics such as the need to increase investments in cybersecurity, cyber threats, emerging technologies and supply chain protection, and a Hacking Village, where experts in ethical hacking will put their skills into practice and share their knowledge.

For its part, the IOTSWC, the main global event focused on industrial transformation through disruptive technologies, is structured around three areas: the exhibition area, with leading companies such as Lora Alliance, AG Solution, Avanci, Dfactory, Edge Impulse, Emnify and STMicroelectronics; the StartUp Pavilion, where emerging projects will be showcased; and the Congress, in which experts from all over the world specialized in the field of digital transformation will take part.
